Greetings, dear coffee lovers, my name is Rafael! I’m starting my internship here in FARMly and it is a pleasure to meet you. So, what do you think about bringing up the topic of how important is every step in the specialty coffee path towards your mug?
If you are an expert, I hope this series of articles can be a point of reflection for you. But if you are new into the specialty coffee world, I also hope that these articles can provide you with useful information!
We are going to explain the greatness behind every step in the coffee lifecycle. From producers, working hard to grow the best coffee possible, to consumers, who validate the entire process.
This series is going to be built in 5 parts:
The 5 Characters That Define The Best Flavour of Specialty Coffee:
1 – The Producer
2 – The Green Coffee Taster
3 – The Roaster
4 – The Barista
5 – The Consumer
So, let’s go!
It is crucial for all coffee lovers around the world, to acknowledge the importance of every character inside the specialty coffee chain. Everyone involved is fundamental in the process of creating all those flavours we love so much.
And our first big character is, of course, the Producer! Responsable for farming the best quality of coffee possible, considering an enormous amount of variables and concepts needed in the specialty coffee farming.
Variables such as altitude, climate and seed genetics, in addition to the variety of processes that can be used by the producer, define what you are going to feel as you drink your coffee in the future!
Isn’t that awesome?!
Here in FARMly, I learned how important it is to really know where your coffee comes from, and who are the people behind it. It is a constructive way of giving those people, the value they deserve, for bringing us the best quality of the best drink in the world, our dear coffee.
It is also very good to know your supplier, so you can be sure that they are always working hard to send you the best they can offer.
And when the market recognizes the producers for their real value, these people also receive the stimulus they need, for keeping up the good work and search for ways of improving their production’s quality even more.
In this case, everyone wins. The producers, the roasters, the consumers.. even the new intern who’s writing this article! (Me!) Who now feels like part of something much bigger and important, and gets each day more amazed by how things are evolving fast in the specialty coffee field in Brazil.
Well, hope this article can be a good read for you. And I also hope this series to be relevant for coffee lovers around the world.
I appreciate your attention, dear friends, and wish your future to be blessed with the best coffee, always!
